Can you recommend the proper eye and ear protection?
Safety Equipment Recommendations
Eye Protection
Wrap around eye protection is best suited for the shooting range. Quality eye protection will meet 1 of 3 major standard for impact protection.
These include:
- US Civilian Use: ANSI Z87.1
- US Military Use : MIL-PRF-31013
- European standard: EN166
It’s recommended the minimum to meet is the civilian ANSI Z87.1 and if you’re really at risk of frag or projectiles…to meet the US military specs.
Eye protection should feel comfortable on the bridge of your nose and overall light weight.
Higher quality eye protection may also offer UV protection and better optical clarity.
Ear Protection
Effective choices for hearing protection come down to:
- Earplugs
- Earmuffs (Passive or Active)
- A combinations of the two
- Some techy alternatives with sound-circuit technology.
Ear protection has a sound level protection. The rating is referred as the NRR db rating.
NRR 23 is the recommended minimal level.
What is the student to instructor ratio for firearms training?
Shooting Dynamics currently offers courses with a 1:1 or 2:1 student‐to‐instructor ratio in the classroom and on the firing line.
What are the Rules of Gun Safety?
- All guns are always loaded.
- Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
- Identify your target, and what is behind it.
